The Gentex GHSLF15R is a 24 VDC low-frequency horn/strobe from the Gentex GHSLF Series. It combines a 520 Hz square-wave horn in Temporal 3 with a fixed 15 candela strobe. As a result, it satisfies both the NFPA 72 sleeping-area audibility requirement and ADA visible notification requirements. Furthermore, the GHSLF15R ships with a red faceplate and plain (no lettering) bezel.
Gentex GHSLF15R Specifications
The GHSLF15R operates at 24 VDC nominal. In addition, it accepts an input voltage range of 16–33 V on filtered DC or full-wave-rectified power. Also, the strobe maintains a 1–2 Hz flash rate regardless of input voltage. Furthermore, the horn carries a jumper selection for either NORMAL or LOUD decibel output.
Per the Gentex datasheet, minimum SPL at 10 ft (reverberant room, UL 464) is 76.3 dBA NORMAL / 78.8 dBA LOUD in Temporal 3 520 Hz. Also, Temporal 4 520 Hz (when used with the GTSM module) is 80.6 dBA NORMAL / 82.0 dBA LOUD. Operating current at 24 VDC nominal for 15 cd in Temporal 3 is 112 mA NORMAL / 144 mA LOUD. In Temporal 4, current is 158 mA NORMAL / 175 mA LOUD.

Installation Notes for Gentex GHSLF15R
First, the 520 Hz low-frequency tone is intended for sleeping-area audibility per NFPA 72 Chapter 18. Therefore, the GHSLF15R is well-suited to hotels, dormitories, and other Group R occupancies. Then, the 15 cd strobe output suits sleeping-room private-mode applications per NFPA 72 spacing tables. In addition, 15 cd is the lowest fixed-output option in the GHSLF Series and gives the lowest NAC current load. Also, the unit ships with the Gentex Super-Slide® mounting bracket and accepts 12–18 AWG wire. Furthermore, the bracket allows prewiring and supervision testing without removing the signal head. However, Temporal 4 pattern requires the Gentex GTSM Synchronization Control Module. The GHSLF15R is not listed for outdoor use, and operating temperature is 32°–120°F (0°–49°C). Unit dimensions are 6-1/2″ H × 5-1/2″ W × 2″ D.
