Notifier (FSP-951) Intelligent Low-Profile Smoke Detector

The Notifier FSP-951 is an intelligent plug-in photoelectric smoke detector. Specifically, it is the white, FlashScan-only model in the FSP-951 Series. As a result, it suits Notifier SLC loops configured for FlashScan operation.

The FSP-951 is the modern successor to the FSP-851. Furthermore, it features an enhanced optical sensing chamber designed to meet the UL 268 7th Edition cooking-smoke rejection standard.

How the Notifier FSP-951 Detects Smoke

First, smoke enters the chamber through 360° screened openings. Then, an infrared light source scatters off the smoke particles. As a result, the dual-LED indicator turns red and the panel registers an alarm.

In addition, the detector reports its sensitivity continuously to the panel. Therefore, maintenance crews see chamber contamination trends before false alarms begin. The detector address is set with rotary decimal switches (1–159 on FlashScan systems). Furthermore, a built-in magnetic test feature lets technicians functionally test the head without the panel.
