The Edwards NT-A adds Class A remote annunciation to QuickStart QS1 control panels. First, it provides a serial RS-485 bus for connecting up to eight remote annunciators. Then, the integrated QS-232 UART port doubles as a laptop or printer interface.
The NT-A package combines two cards. Specifically, it includes the X485 RS-485 card plus the QS-232 UART port card. The X485 occupies one option card space on the QS1 chassis rail. In addition, the QS-232 plugs directly into the panel CPU.
Edwards NT-A Key Features
- One Class A serial remote annunciator bus for QS1 panels
- Supports the full QuickStart annunciator family: QSA Series and SRA Series
- QS-232 UART port also serves as a PC programming and printer connection
- Required when more than one remote annunciator is installed, or whenever Class A wiring is specified
- Includes both X485 and QS-232 cards in a single package
Verified Specifications
- Standby and alarm current: 60 mA each
- Wire size: 12 to 18 AWG (0.75 to 2.5 mm sq) twisted pair, 6 twists per foot minimum
- Circuit resistance: 100 ohms maximum
- Circuit capacitance: 0.4 uF maximum
- Operating environment: 32 to 120 deg F, 93% RH non-condensing
- Card spaces: requires one chassis option card space
Compatibility Notes
The NT-A is a QuickStart QS1 option card, not a Signature SLC interface. As a result, it should not be confused with EST3 network cards or Signature Series modules. For QS1 panels with only a single annunciator on Class B wiring, the simpler QS-232 card may suffice. However, Class A wiring or multi-annunciator buses require the full NT-A.
