The Potter Electric Signal PAD100-IM is a fault isolator module for addressable fire alarm systems. Specifically, it protects a segment of the SLC loop where a short circuit occurs. Moreover, it does not require its own SLC address. As a result, it keeps the rest of the loop communicating.
How the Potter Electric Signal PAD100-IM works
When the module detects a short on the SLC loop, it disconnects the outgoing side. As a result, the short cannot affect downstream devices. Then, once the short clears, the module restores automatically. In addition, one red LED lights continuously while the segment is shorted. Therefore, technicians can locate faults quickly.
Specifications and compatibility
The PAD100-IM is compatible with Potter’s IPA series addressable control panels. Also, it supports Class A, Class X, and Class B wiring. Wiring terminals accept 22 to 12 AWG conductors. Furthermore, up to 254 units may share one SLC loop. It operates from 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C). Humidity tolerance runs 0 to 93%, non-condensing. The module measures 4.17 inches wide by 4.17 inches high by 1.14 inches deep. Finally, it mounts on a 2-1/2-inch-deep 2-gang box or a 1-1/2-inch-deep 4-inch square box.
