The Potter RM-1000ECS is a remote microphone for Potter voice evacuation and ECS systems. Specifically, it lets the operator page and activate emergency communication messages to selected speaker circuits from a remote console. Furthermore, the unit ships with the SB-8 voice user interface, which adds eight programmable soft keys.
How the Potter RM-1000ECS integrates with the voice system
The RM-1000ECS is a PLink network device. As a result, it joins the voice system over a four-wire RS-485 control link. In addition, it distributes paging audio through the V-Link 1 and V-Link 2 audio risers. Therefore, the operator can drive both live paging and pre-recorded ECS messages from one remote location. Up to thirty RM-1000ECS units can connect to a single voice system.
Controls, indicators, and enclosure
The microphone provides LED indication for Power and Ready to Page. Also, the eight SB-8 soft keys are field-programmable for message selection and circuit routing. The assembly is housed in a sheet-metal enclosure with an integral microphone. Furthermore, the manufacturer’s part number is 3520679, which matches the SB-8 enclosure kit.
Typical applications
Operators install the RM-1000ECS at security desks, fire command centers, and reception stations. In addition, it serves voice-evac retrofits where the panel sits in a back-of-house room. As a result, on-site staff can address occupants without leaving their post.
