The Protectowire PIM-530 is a linear heat detector interface module. It connects a fire alarm panel to Protectowire PHSC or PLR digital detectors. Furthermore, it provides one supervised detection circuit for that detector run.
The module fits between the host panel and the detector. First, it monitors the detector for alarm and trouble conditions. Then, it reports those conditions to the panel through dry contacts. As a result, the panel sees a clean, supervised zone.
Protectowire PIM-530 Alarm Point Location
The PIM-530 includes an onboard Alarm Point Location Meter. Specifically, it shows the distance to the heat-shorted point on the detector. The meter reads in feet or meters. In addition, a simple on-screen routine calibrates it in the field.
Communications and Outputs
The module also adds modern monitoring options. First, it provides Modbus over RS-485 communications. Then, two 4-20mA outputs report module status and alarm point location. However, these outputs serve annunciation only, not primary alarm signaling.
