The Siemens DT-325EP is an explosion-proof, rate-compensated thermal fire detector. It protects hazardous indoor areas. Specifically, it activates when the surrounding air reaches 325°F (163°C).
How the Siemens DT-325EP detects fire
This detector uses Detect-A-Fire rate-compensation technology. As a result, it senses actual air temperature regardless of how fast a fire grows. In addition, the element is self-restoring after it operates. Therefore, the device resets once temperatures return to normal.
The sensing shell is stainless steel, and the mounting head is brass. Moreover, the element is factory-set and hermetically sealed. Siemens supplies it with normally open contacts for use with its fire alarm systems.
Ratings and installation
The DT-325EP is UL and ULC Listed and FM Approved. It is built by Fenwal as the Model 27121 series. Its contacts are rated 2.0 A at 24 VDC. Importantly, it is explosion-proof only when mounted in an agency-listed explosion-proof junction box. Also, it is intended for indoor use, not wet or outdoor locations.
