The Siemens DI-3 is a conventional two-wire ionization smoke detector. It is part of the Cerberus Pyrotronics System 3 family of plug-in smoke detection devices.
The DI-3 uses a dual-chamber ionization design. One chamber senses combustion products. The other serves as a reference. As a result, the detector compensates for temperature, humidity, and pressure changes that would otherwise shift sensitivity.
Sensitivity is preset at the factory but can be field-adjusted. In addition, it can be measured without removing the detector from its base. Sensitivity testing uses the Siemens TM-I3 test module through a front-accessible test jack.

Compatible Systems and Bases
The DI-3 is designed for Cerberus Pyrotronics System 3 conventional zone modules. Specifically, it mounts to the DB-3S surface base on a 4″ octagonal, single-gang, or 4″ square wiring box. Alternatively, it mounts to the ADB-3 audible base on a 4″ square deep wiring box.
For high-altitude applications (3,000-8,000 ft), order the DI-3H variant. For intrinsically safe applications, order the DI-3IS with a CZM-1 zone module on an MXL panel.

Availability and Replacement Option
The Siemens DI-3 has been discontinued by the manufacturer. As an alternative, consider the Siemens OP121 photoelectric detector with the DB-11 base. The OP121 keeps your Siemens system in service. In addition, photoelectric technology better suits most modern installations.
