The Siemens MLC is the MXL Line Card, an optional circuit card for the FireFinder XLS fire alarm control panel. It expands the panel’s intelligent detection capacity. Specifically, the card supplies two independent analog circuits. Each circuit supports up to 60 intelligent devices, for a total of 120 addressable points.
These circuits work with Siemens “I”, “ID”, “IL”, and “FP” series intelligent devices. As a result, installers can connect smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual stations, and control or relay modules. In addition, each circuit supports up to 60 addressable relays.
Siemens MLC supervision and diagnostics
The MLC occupies two addresses on the HNET network. Then the FireFinder XLS dynamically supervises every connected device through a unique communication protocol. The card also provides on-board ground-fault detection. Therefore, the panel can report alarm, trouble, supervisory, security, and status conditions for each point.
Furthermore, the line card supports programmable input/output functions and remote smoke-detector sensitivity adjustment. It also supports audible bases and degrade-mode operation. These features make the MLC a flexible building block for large detection networks.
Typical applications
Facilities use the MLC in offices, hospitals, schools, and industrial buildings. Because it adds 120 points per card, it suits large or growing systems. For replacement or expansion projects, it integrates directly with existing FireFinder XLS infrastructure.
