The Siemens PAD5-6A is a complete 6-amp PAD-5 addressable power supply kit for commercial fire alarm systems. It expands notification power and reports status back to the panel. Specifically, the kit includes a black enclosure (PAB-ENCL), a PAD-5-MB main board with adapter plate, and a 170-watt power supply (FP2011-U1). Together, these parts provide up to 6 amps at 24 VDC.
The PAD-5 is an addressable unit that resides on the panel’s signaling line. It connects to a Siemens Modular control panel through an XDLC device loop card. As a result, the panel sees real-time status and controls each NAC from a single address.
Siemens PAD5-6A circuits and power
The PAD-5 provides four Class B or two Class A notification circuits as standard. Each circuit is rated at 3 amps. In addition, the PAD-5-CLSA expansion card can add more outputs later. The unit also delivers 3 amps of auxiliary power for devices such as door holders.
For control, installers can program steady, synchronized strobe, ANSI Temporal 3, or Temporal 4 signaling. The unit also supervises battery, input power, and ground faults. Furthermore, the charger maintains backup batteries to support long standby times.
Listings and applications
The PAD-5 is UL 864 10th Edition Listed, along with UL 1076, UL 2017, and UL 2572. It also carries ULC-S527 and ULC-S576-14 listings, plus ADA compliance. The kit suits offices, hospitals, schools, and industrial retrofits or expansions.
