The Siemens ZH-R is a red audible horn in the Siemens Series Z notification line. Specifically, it signals occupants during fire alarm and emergency events. In addition, it mounts on a wall or a ceiling.
Siemens ZH-R sound options
The ZH-R offers field-selectable tones. First, installers can choose a continuous horn tone. Alternatively, they can select a temporal Code-3 pattern. Furthermore, the horn provides selectable high or low sound output to match the space.
Series Z snap-on base
Every Series Z appliance shares one snap-on base. As a result, the base can be pre-wired and tested before the appliance is installed. Then the horn simply snaps onto the base after the walls are finished.
Shorting contacts in the base keep the circuit continuous during testing. However, those contacts open permanently once the appliance is installed. Therefore, any later removal reports a trouble condition at the panel when supervision is enabled.
