The Edwards SIGA-OSHCD is a Signature Optica Series intelligent multi-criteria life-safety detector. It combines optical (photoelectric) smoke sensing, rate-of-rise heat sensing, and life-safety carbon monoxide detection in one device. Therefore, a single SIGA-OSHCD provides fire AND CO protection in occupancies that require both.

Edwards SIGA-OSHCD — three sensors, three alarm decisions

First, the optical smoke sensor uses dual optical wavelengths combined with multiple detection angles. As a result, particle data is filtered through digital algorithms to reject signal patterns typical of cooking nuisance sources. Then the rate-of-rise heat sensor provides a 15°F/min (9°C/min) function plus a 135°F (57.2°C) fixed-temperature threshold. In addition, the CO sensor monitors for the “silent killer” with UL 2034 / CAN/CSA 6.19 alarm sensitivity limits. Furthermore, the detector analyzes smoke and heat independently from CO, enabling a fire alarm, a life-safety CO alarm, or both.

UL 268 7th Edition and cooking nuisance rejection

The SIGA-OSHCD is listed to UL 268 7th edition, the latest standard with enhanced cooking-nuisance immunity. Integrated nuisance rejection helps reduce unwanted alarms from general cooking particulates.

CO sensor end-of-life

The CO sensor has a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, or when the panel signals end-of-life — whichever comes first. When the sensor reaches end-of-life, the detector signals a COMMON TRBL ACT condition on the control panel. Furthermore, this trouble persists until the detector is replaced, even after a panel reset.

Electrical and environmental

Operating voltage: 15.20 to 19.95 VDC from the Signature loop. Normal operating current: 32 µA. Alarm current: 45 µA. Also, the operating environment is 32 to 100°F (0 to 38°C), 0 to 90% RH non-condensing. Storage temperature: -4 to 140°F (-20 to 60°C). Construction: high-impact engineering polymer, white.

Agency listings

UL 268-7, UL 521, UL 2075, CSFM. Evaluated to the CO alarm sensitivity limits of UL 2034. ULC Listed to CAN/ULC-S529, CAN/ULC-S530, CAN/CSA 6.19. In addition, install per NFPA 72, NFPA 720 (CO), and UL 2075.

Compatible bases and accessories

SIGA-SB, SIGA-SB4, SIGA-RB, SIGA-RB4, SIGA-IB, SIGA-IB4. For audible base operation: SIGA-AB4GT (CO + Fire, requires SIGA-TCDR) or SIGA-AB4G-LF (520 Hz low-frequency). The SIGA-AB4G (Fire-only) is NOT for use with the SIGA-OSHCD because the OSHCD includes a CO sensor.
