The Simplex 2081-9272 is a 12 V sealed lead-acid (SLA) standby battery for Simplex fire alarm control panels. Per the Simplex S2081-0006 datasheet, the OEM battery is rated 6.2 Ah at the 20-hour discharge rate. Aftermarket-equivalent replacements in the same form factor are commonly supplied at 7 Ah for the same charger position.
This battery supplies the secondary power required by NFPA 72 for fire alarm systems. Specifically, it carries the panel through AC outages so that detection, annunciation, and signaling continue uninterrupted.

Replacement and Compliance Notes
NFPA 72 requires fire alarm batteries to be load-tested annually. Furthermore, batteries should be replaced when capacity drops below 80% of rated capacity or at the manufacturer’s recommended interval — typically every 3 to 5 years. Always replace both batteries in a series pair at the same time. As a result, you avoid the imbalance that shortens service life on a mixed pair.
