The Hochiki SOC-24VN is a conventional photoelectric smoke detector with no reed switch. It detects both smoldering and fast-flaming fires. Specifically, a computer-designed optical chamber drives its sensitivity.
How the Hochiki SOC-24VN works
First, a GaAlAs infrared diode lights the smoke chamber. Then, scattered light from smoke particles triggers an alarm. A single bi-color LED shows status. During standby, it flashes green every three seconds.
The “no reed switch” design omits the magnet-test feature. As a result, it removes one mechanical component from the detector.
