The System Sensor WFD20EXP is a 2-inch explosion-proof waterflow detector for hazardous locations. It mounts on 2-inch steel pipe, Schedule 10 through 40, in wet-pipe sprinkler systems. When water flows, the vane moves and the switch reports the alarm. As a result, the fire alarm panel sees sprinkler activation immediately.
Hazardous Location Ratings
The WFD20EXP carries true explosion-proof ratings. Specifically, it is rated for Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups B, C, and D. It also covers Class II, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups E, F, and G. In addition, Class III, Divisions 1 and 2 are included. The sensitivity spring sits outside the explosion environment for safety.

Listings include UL (E200116), ULC, CSFM 7770-1653:145, FM, and MEA. However, never install it on copper pipe. Also, use it on wet-pipe systems only — not dry-pipe, deluge, or preaction service. The retard mechanism (A3008-0) and terminal block are field-replaceable. Therefore, long-term maintenance stays simple.
