The Vesda VHX-1420 is a Modbus Type 3 High Level Interface (HLI) from Life Safety Consultants. It connects a VESDAnet network to host systems. As a result, monitoring platforms can read VESDA data.
What the Vesda VHX-1420 does
This interface is not a smoke detector. Instead, it links VESDAnet to a Building Management System or Fire Alarm Control Panel. First, it acts as a proxy for VESDA devices on the network. Then, it passes status, control, and configuration data to the host.
Alarms reach the host within a few seconds of a detector alarm. In addition, the HLI supports up to 100 detectors. Exact timing depends on the polling strategy and network size.
Specifications
The wall-mounted metal box runs on a 24 VDC supply. Furthermore, it draws about 70 mA and 1.68 W at quiescent. It ships with a VESDAlink RS-232 9-way serial cable.
