The Potter Electric Signal VSR-10 is a vane-type waterflow alarm switch for 10″ wet sprinkler pipe. First, it mounts on horizontal pipe (top side) or vertical pipe using a U-bolt saddle. Then, flow downstream of the device pivots the vane and trips two SPDT switches.
How the Potter Electric Signal VSR-10 works
A minimum flow of 10 GPM (38 LPM) activates the device. In addition, an adjustable 0-90 second pneumatic retard suppresses false alarms from pressure surges. As a result, the switch signals only sustained flow indicating an open sprinkler head. Specifically, it is UL and cUL Listed for schedule 10 through 40 steel pipe at 10″ nominal size.

Installation notes
Therefore, install the device at least 6″ from any fitting that changes flow direction. Also, keep at least 24″ between the VSR-10 and any valve or drain. Finally, the retard/switch assembly (stock 1029030) is field-replaceable without draining the system.
