Edwards (6832-1) Backbox – red, for 6830-1 or 6830-2

The Edwards 6832-1 backbox is the wallbox for Edwards EST firefighter telephone stations. It is finished in red powdercoat and accepts either flush or surface mount installation. The wallbox is 14 in H x 8-1/2 in W x 3-1/2 in D.

This wallbox is one of three pieces in a complete firephone station. As a result, it ships separately from the frontplate and the handset. The integrator orders all three to match — wallbox, frontplate, and handset assembly.

How the Firephone Station Assembles

First, the 6832-1 wallbox installs in the wall — either flush or surface. Then a 6831 series frontplate mounts on the wallbox face. The frontplate is available with a break-glass insert (6831-1 flush, 6831-3 surface) or a metal insert (6831-2 flush, 6831-4 surface). Finally, a handset assembly mounts on the cradle inside. As a result, the complete station is a keylocked, supervised firefighter telephone.

Compatible Frontplates and Handsets

The 6832-1 wallbox is the shared mounting base across the EST firephone family. For example, it works with the standard 6830-4 fixed handset, with the 6830-5A-4 push-to-talk version, with the 6830-6A-4 armored-cord push-to-talk version, and with the 6830-NY-F4 / 6830-NY-S4 warden stations. In addition, it also fits the older 6830-1 and 6830-2 handset assemblies in retrofit installations.
