Altronix (AL624) 6/12/24 vdc power supply/chgr

The Altronix AL624 is a low-voltage linear power supply and charger board. Specifically, it converts a 16–24VAC input into a selectable 6, 12, or 24VDC output for access-control, security, and CCTV system accessories.

First, the AL624 accepts an external 20–40 VA AC supply from a transformer such as the Altronix T1620 or T2428. Then, on-board regulation filters and stabilizes the DC output. In addition, an integrated charger maintains a sealed lead-acid or gel standby battery. As a result, the board switches over instantaneously to battery when AC drops out. Therefore, low-current 12-volt door strikes, card readers, and CCTV cameras stay powered through a brownout.

Application Scope — Not a Fire-Alarm Power Supply

However, the AL624 board is intended for general-purpose access-control, security, and CCTV accessory loads. Specifically, Altronix does not list the AL624 board for fire protective signaling. Therefore, do not specify it as a UL 864 or UL 1481 fire-alarm power source. For NAC and fire-alarm applications, use a UL 864 NAC power extender (such as the Altronix AL842ULADA or AL602ULADA) instead.
