The Kidde RKEY is a remote key switch on a brushed stainless-steel plate for fire alarm annunciators. Specifically, it provides a normally-open dry contact for the lock/unlock function on R-series annunciators.
In addition, the plate is silk-screened with lock and unlock icons. As a result, operators identify state visually at a glance.
Kidde RKEY application
First, the RKEY pairs with the K-RLED-C and K-RLCD-C remote LED and LCD annunciators. Then, annunciator programming determines which buttons the key switch enables or inhibits. As a result, integrators can lock down silence, reset, or acknowledge buttons.
Furthermore, the installation must follow strict wiring rules. The RKEY must mount within 3 feet (0.9 m) of the annunciator. Also, the connecting wiring must run in metal conduit.
