The Edwards SIGA-DGSB is the surface-mount accessory for the Signature Series SIGA-DG detector guard family. It mounts to the ceiling and provides the platform that the SIGA-DG detector guard installs onto for surface-applied detector installations.
What the SIGA-DG family does
First, the SIGA-DG guard prevents mechanical damage to Signature Series smoke detectors in high-traffic areas. Then on surface installations where the detector is not mounted in a recessed box, the surface adapter provides the mounting surface for the guard. As a result, the protected detector retains its full performance while gaining physical impact protection.
Construction
The SIGA-DG family is 16-gauge steel with a white enamel finish, secured with tamper-proof fasteners. In addition, the companion SIGA-DGS surface adapter measures 8.875 in diameter by 2.25 in tall; combined with the guard, the assembly is 8.875 in by 5.5 in. Edwards does not publish standalone UL listings for the surface adapter or guard; agency listings flow from the protected parent detector.
Compatibility
Compatible with Signature Series detectors including the SIGA-IPHS, SIGA-PS, and SIGA-IS, mounted on the SIGA-IB, SIGA-RB, or SIGA-SB bases. For ceiling-recessed installations, order the SIGA-DGMF mounting flange variant instead of the surface adapter.
Selection guidance
Use the SIGA-DGSB when the detector head sits on a surface-mounted base and the detector guard is required for physical protection. Edwards does not publish a separate SKU-specific datasheet for the SIGA-DGSB; verify dimensional fit against the SIGA-DG/DGS spec sheet prior to ordering.
