The Siemens ST-50 is a 5-foot duct sampling tube for ducts measuring 3 to 5 feet wide. Its Siemens part number is 500-649712.

First, the tube installs across the inside of an HVAC duct. Then sampling holes along its length draw a representative air sample into the duct smoke detector. Therefore, the detector sees the airflow’s cross-section rather than a single point.

In addition, the ST-50 pairs with Siemens duct smoke detector housings in the FDBZ492 / Model ‘FDBZ’ series of air-duct housings and detectors. As a result, building sites get reliable early-warning smoke detection inside their HVAC infrastructure. However, the tube is a passive accessory — the detector itself reports to the fire alarm panel.
