EDWARDS (GCSVWF) Ceiling Speaker/Strobe, 15-115cd, White,

The Edwards GCSVWF is a Genesis LED GCS Series ceiling-mount speaker/strobe in white with FIRE marking. First, it combines a multi-tap audio speaker with a multi-candela LED strobe in one low-profile ceiling appliance. As a result, it covers both audible voice messages and visible signaling for the hearing impaired in a single device.

This appliance is part of the LED-generation GCS family. Therefore, it offers ultra-low strobe current draw, which means more devices per circuit, smaller wire gauge, and fewer booster power supplies than legacy Xenon ceiling speaker/strobes.

Edwards GCSVWF field-selectable settings

Three independent switches under the cover let installers configure the device without removing it. First, a voltage switch toggles between 25 VRMS and 70 VRMS audio. Next, a wattage tap selects 1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2 W speaker output. Finally, a candela switch selects 15, 30, 75, or 115 cd strobe output. As a result, one part number covers a wide range of ceiling notification scenarios.

Verified strobe specifications

• Strobe operating voltage: 16 to 33 VDC, or 16 to 33 VFWR
• Light output: 15, 30, 75, or 115 candela (field-selectable)
• Strobe flash rate: 1 fps (approx.), synchronized to within 10 ms over 2 hours
• Operating current (all candela settings): 35 mA at VDC, 45 mA at VFWR
• Current draw is the same for all four candela settings (simplifies system design)

Required mounting plate

The GCSVWF mounts to the GRSW universal room-side wiring plate. Therefore, order the GRSW-10 (10-pack) separately. The plate enables pre-wiring with a diagnostics check bar before the device snaps into place. As a result, installation time drops and continuity errors get caught early.

Synchronization sources

Compatible sync sources include the Edwards CC Series Signal Modules, BPS booster and auxiliary power supplies, and both intelligent and conventional Edwards control panels. Furthermore, GCS LED strobes can be mixed on the same circuit and in the same field of view as legacy Xenon strobes. Therefore, retrofits don’t require a full appliance swap.

Cover marking can be changed in the field

Replacement covers let installers swap the marking after install: GCSVWF-CVR (FIRE, white), GCSVWN-CVR (no marking), GCSVWA-CVR (ALERT), GCSVWF-FR-CVR (FEU), or GCSVWF-SP-CVR (FUEGO). As a result, the same device body adapts to changing facility requirements.
