The Notifier FST-951-SELFT is an intelligent thermal heat detector with self-test capability. Specifically, the unit is a low-profile white plug-in head for Notifier SLC loops running FlashScan. As a result, the detector handles its own functional test instead of requiring a manual smoke or heat input.
First, the FST-951-SELFT is a heat detector, not a smoke detector. Then, three sensing modes are programmable from the fire alarm control panel. Specifically, modes are 135 °F fixed-temperature, rate-of-rise with 135 °F fixed-temperature, or 190 °F high temperature.
Notifier FST-951-SELFT detection thresholds
The rate-of-rise threshold is 15 °F per minute. In metric, that is 8.3 °C per minute. Furthermore, the high-temperature mode triggers at 190 °F (88 °C). As a result, the unit fits both general-area and hot-area applications.
Operating temperature varies by mode. Specifically, fixed-temp and rate-of-rise modes are listed for −4 °F to 100 °F (−20 °C to 38 °C). In addition, high-heat mode is listed for −4 °F to 150 °F (−20 °C to 66 °C). Therefore, mode selection partly drives where the unit can be installed.
Self-test cycles and electrical specs
The self-test feature is rated for up to 150 tests before end-of-life. Specifically, operating current at 24 VDC is 200 µA with one comm every five seconds. In addition, maximum alarm current is 2 mA at 24 VDC. Furthermore, maximum self-test alarm current is 7 mA. Humidity range is 10 to 93 percent non-condensing.
