FDO & FDCO — Optical Point Smoke Detectors
The FDO421 is Siemens’ standard addressable optical (photoelectric) smoke detector for the Cerberus PRO system. It uses light-scattering technology to detect slow-smoldering fires — the most common type of fire in commercial environments. Key specs:
- Addressable on Siemens FC72x SLC loops
- Mounts on DB-11 or DB-11E base
- Suitable for offices, corridors, and general-purpose spaces
The FDCO421 adds carbon monoxide (CO) detection to the same form factor — ideal for spaces with combustion appliances or parking garage adjacency. The FDOOT441 combines optical smoke and thermal detection for multi-criteria alarm verification, reducing false alarms in challenging environments.
FDOOT & FDOOTC — Duct Smoke Detectors
Duct smoke detectors are required by NFPA 90A in air-handling units (AHUs) above 2,000 CFM. Siemens’ duct detector line integrates cleanly with Cerberus PRO addressable loops:
- FDOOT241 — Addressable duct smoke detector for standard air velocity ranges
- FDOOTC441 — Combination optical/CO duct detector for enhanced detection

FDT — Addressable Heat Detectors

- Fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise detection
- Addressable on Cerberus PRO SLC loops
- Compatible with DB-11 base
Legacy Siemens heat detectors including the HI921 (static + rate-of-rise) are also available for older conventional system installations.
DB-11 & DB-11E — Detector Base Compatibility
All Siemens Cerberus PRO addressable detectors — FDO, FDCO, FDOOT, and FDT series — mount on the DB-11 or DB-11E addressable detector base. Understanding the difference matters for ordering:
- DB-11 — Standard addressable mounting base; the most common replacement base for Cerberus PRO systems
- DB-11E — Extended base with built-in isolator; recommended for installations requiring per-device fault isolation (Class A wiring configurations)
- DB-X3RS — Series-3 base with relay output; used where local relay control is needed at the detector location
When replacing detectors, always verify the base model. In many cases, the base remains in place and only the detector head is swapped — a cost-saving approach for maintenance teams.
