The Edwards 129-6N-12J is a magnetically actuated reed position switch with a 12-mm threaded stainless-steel barrel. First, this is an industrial sensing product — not a fire alarm device. Specifically, it sits in the Edwards 129 Series GuardSwitch family of non-contact position and interlock switches. Therefore, it interfaces with PLCs, machine controls, and process safety circuits rather than fire alarm panels.
What the Edwards 129-6N-12J is
This is a barrel-style proximity-replacement reed switch with a 12-foot jacketed lead. As a result, it suits semiconductor, packaging, conveyor, farm, and process applications where a non-contact dry-contact signal is preferred over an inductive proximity sensor. However, the 129-6N-12J is not a fire alarm device or a door-holder reed. Therefore, it does not carry UL 268, UL 464, UL 1971, or NFPA 72 listings. Furthermore, it is not intended for life-safety door coordination, smoke control, or fire compartmentalization service.
Compatibility
The 129-6N-12J wires to any PLC input, safety relay, or machine-control circuit that accepts a dry-contact N.O. signal within the contact rating. In addition, a matching 129-series magnet actuator should be specified separately if not already on hand.
