The Edwards 556A-M audio coupler is a plug-in module board for the Millennium Mini-Mi 5560M base unit. As a result, it turns the Mini-Mi into a system speaker amplifier. The board accepts 10, 25, or 70.7 VRMS audio input selected by an onboard jumper.
This module is part of the Edwards Adaptatone Millennium signaling family. Therefore, it lives inside a 5560M Mini-Mi base unit (not on its own). First, the integrator picks the base voltage option. Then the 556A-M routes external system audio through the Mini-Mi speaker.

How It Fits in the Mini-Mi System
The 5560M Mini-Mi base accepts several plug-in module options. For example, the 556T-M is the tone module, the 556V-M is the pre-recorded voice module, and the 556A-M (this part) is the audio coupler. In addition, the 556A-M485 variant adds RS-485 networking on top of the audio coupling. Therefore, the 556A-M is the right choice when the integrator wants to feed external paging or evacuation audio through a Mini-Mi base.
Important: This Is an Industrial Signaling Module, Not a Fire-Alarm Listed Device
The 556A-M is part of the Edwards Signaling Adaptatone Millennium industrial line. Therefore, it is not UL 268 or UL 464 listed as a fire-alarm component. Do not specify it on a UL 864 fire-alarm system that requires part-level fire-alarm listings. As a result, it is best used for industrial paging, process announcements, and general signaling.
