The Edwards 276B-1120 is a single-action, break-glass pull station with single-pole open contacts. First, the user breaks the glass rod to trip the alarm. Then, the latched contact must be reset with the supplied key. As a result, the station deters accidental or casual activation.
Specifically, the 276B series uses contemporary Lexan (polycarbonate) construction rather than die-cast metal. Therefore, the station is lightweight while remaining tamper-resistant. In addition, screw terminals make field wiring straightforward.
Edwards 276B-1120 application
Use the 276B-1120 on conventional fire alarm initiating circuits in offices, schools, healthcare buildings, and similar commercial occupancies. Furthermore, the station supports either semi-flush or surface mounting. For semi-flush, fit a 4-inch North American square box with a single-gang plaster cover at least 2-1/4 inches (57 mm) deep.
Verified specifications
- Operation: single action, break glass, key reset
- Contact configuration: single pole, normally open
- Operating voltage: 30 VAC / 28 VDC
- Wiring: screw terminals
- Housing: Lexan (polycarbonate)
- Operating temperature: 32 to 120°F
- Mounting: semi-flush (4-inch square box) or surface
- Listing: UL 38 (fire alarm manual stations)
The 276B series is noncoded, so the station closes a contact without sending a coded signal. However, the host panel still drives the audible/visible notification appliances on alarm. As a result, the 276B-1120 integrates cleanly with any conventional FACP that expects a normally-open contact closure.
