The Edwards 301-BLT-12K is a GuardSwitch Series 300 safety interlock switch with a 12-foot SJTOW 18/4 jacketed cable. First, mount the switch body to a fixed frame. Then, the T-shaped magnetic actuator mounts to the moving guard. As a result, opening the guard separates the actuator from the switch and changes the contact state.
Specifically, the “BLT” designation indicates this variant carries an LED status indicator. Therefore, the LED illuminates while the guard is open, providing immediate visual feedback. In addition, when multiple guards are open in a daisy-chain, each LED appears dimmer — useful for diagnosing which guard moved last.
Edwards 301-BLT-12K application
The Series 300 GuardSwitch is intended for machine safety guarding — not for fire alarm initiation. Furthermore, the switch is designed to be wired into a safety monitored relay or a dedicated safety circuit. Also, both the switch circuit (Circuit 1) and the tamper circuit (Circuit 2) must be connected to achieve the defeat-resistant operation that the dual-circuit design provides.
Verified specifications
- Switch type: GuardSwitch Series 300 safety interlock
- Actuator: T-shaped magnetic key (separate from switch body)
- Contacts: DPST, 1 N.O. + 1 N.C.
- Contact rating: 30 mA (low-energy safety circuit)
- Cable: SJTOW 18/4, 12 ft pigtail (jacketed)
- Status indicator: integral LED (illuminates when guard is open)
- Body material: polyurethane
Wire the 301-BLT-12K only to a listed safety monitoring relay or PLC safety input — not to a fire alarm initiating circuit. However, the product is sometimes confused with a fire alarm pull station because of the “Edwards” brand. As a result, always verify the application before specifying or installing this device.
