The Edwards 596 is a Class 2 low-voltage signaling transformer. First, it converts 120 VAC primary power to low-voltage output. Then it provides three secondary taps for flexible installation. As a result, one transformer serves several low-voltage signaling needs.
Edwards 596 output taps
The secondary offers 6, 12, and 18 VAC connections. Specifically, the 6 VAC tap supplies 10 VA. In addition, the 12 and 18 VAC taps each supply 15 VA. Therefore, installers match the voltage to the connected load.
Mounting options
The 596 mounts in a standard 1/2-inch knockout. Alternatively, the included foot mounts allow surface installation. Also, it fits both plastic and metal back boxes. Furthermore, the 593 transformer plate adapts it for a two-gang box.
Construction
This is a compact, energy-limiting Class 2 transformer. As a result, it suits light-duty signaling applications. The unit operates at 50/60 Hz on single-phase power.
