The Edwards 871-G1 is an indoor flush-mount DC vibrating horn. First, it is an industrial audible signaling appliance in the 870/871 AdaptaHorn series. Specifically, the flush-mount design projects less than 1 inch from the wall surface.
Where the Edwards 871-G1 fits
This horn covers general industrial audible signaling in commercial buildings. Therefore, machine alarms, process indication, and shift-change signaling are typical applications. In addition, plants and offices use it where flush-mount aesthetics matter. As a result, the appliance integrates discreetly into finished interior surfaces.
Construction
First, the housing is die-cast metal in gray finish. Then, the supplied trim plate covers the field-cut opening for a clean installation. Also, the projection above the mounting surface is less than 1 inch.

What this horn is not
Critically, this is an indoor industrial signaling horn, not a fire alarm notification appliance. Therefore, it is not UL 268 (smoke) or UL 464 (audible signaling for fire) listed, and it does not carry an NFPA 72 part-level designation. Also, the housing is gray die-cast metal — not red — so it is not suitable as a substitute for a fire alarm temporal horn.
