The Edwards EG1M-RM is the Genesis Signal Master remote-mount synchronization module. First, it synchronizes Genesis strobes on a notification appliance circuit. Furthermore, it permits independent horn silence on the same pair of wires that drive horn-strobe appliances.

Edwards EG1M-RM function

The Signal Master sits between the fire alarm control panel and the downstream Genesis appliances. First, it accepts a strobe NAC input and (optionally) a separate horn NAC input. Then, it conditions both signals so all downstream strobes flash within 10 milliseconds of each other, indefinitely. As a result, occupants see one coordinated flash pattern rather than a strobing flicker that can trigger photosensitive responses.

Two-NAC vs. one-NAC operation

With two NACs wired in (strobe + horn), the horn circuit can be silenced without turning off the strobes. This complies with NFPA 72 audible silence after acknowledgment. Alternatively, with a single NAC, horns cannot be silenced independently of strobes. Most commercial installations use the two-NAC method.

Appliance capacity

One EG1M-RM drives a wide range of Genesis strobe and horn-strobe quantities based on candela rating. Specifically: 39 devices at 15 cd, 21 devices at 30 cd, 16 devices at 60 cd, 14 devices at 75 cd, or 13 devices at 110 cd. As a result, most single-floor zones can use a single Signal Master.

Compatible appliances

The EG1M-RM works with Genesis G1 strobes (G1-V15/V30/V60/V75/V110 and R-prefix red variants) and Genesis temporal horn-strobes (G1-HV, G1-HOV series and their R variants). The “E” prefix on the SKU denotes the Edwards-branded variant in the family; G1M-RM, MG1M-RM, EG1M-RM, XLSG1M-RM, ADTG1M-RM, and G1M-RM-LG share the same internals.
