The System Sensor EPS40-2 is a pressure switch that includes two SPDT contact sets. As a result, it can drive two independent inputs to a fire alarm control panel from a single field device.
Specifically, the EPS40-2 is used in wet-pipe sprinkler supervisory and waterflow monitoring applications. In addition, the dual-switch configuration lets installers separate alarm and supervisory paths back to the panel.
What the System Sensor EPS40-2 Does
First, the switch reacts to a configured pressure threshold in the connected pressure source. Then, both SPDT contacts transfer simultaneously when that threshold is reached. Therefore, one contact set can report to the fire alarm panel while the other reports to a building management or supervisory system.
Also, having two contact sets simplifies wiring on jobs that need separate alarm and trouble signaling. For example, a single device can light a sprinkler-supervisory zone *and* an off-site monitoring output.
