The Eaton ESBR is a Wheelock Exceder Series surface-mount backbox for wall-mount installations. Specifically, the ESBR is a red sheet-metal enclosure that lets Cooper Notification Exceder wall horns, strobes, and horn-strobes mount cleanly to a finished surface where no recessed box exists.
First, the backbox provides a finished mounting surface for the Exceder appliance. Then, the appliance secures to the box using its standard mounting plate. As a result, the install looks intentional and the wiring sits protected behind the appliance.
Eaton ESBR Conduit Knockouts
The ESBR provides multiple knockouts for flexible conduit and wire entry. In addition, side and rear options simplify routing on awkward walls. Specifically, the knockout pattern is:
- Two (2) side 1/2" knockouts
- Two (2) side 3/4" knockouts
- One (1) rear 1/2" knockout
Dimensions and Construction
External dimensions: 5.50" L x 4.75" H x 2.10" W. Furthermore, the red finish matches the standard red Exceder appliance family for a uniform look across the run. The matching opposite-color SKU is the ESBW.
Listings and Application
The ESBR is UL and ULC listed for use with Cooper Notification Exceder horns, strobes, and horn-strobes. Therefore, mounting the appliance on the ESBR preserves the agency listing of the parent appliance. Note: this is a passive enclosure — no electrical components, no candela rating, no audible output.
What This Part Is Not
The ESBR is specifically for the Exceder Series notification appliances. However, it is NOT for the newer Eluxa LED line (which uses ELSPKBB-R/W, LSPKBB-CR/CW, or 4" square boxes). Also, it is NOT for the older Wheelock MT, E50, or ASWP families. Always match the backbox to the exact appliance series and color before ordering.
