The Edwards G4SRN is a Genesis LED G4S Series wall-mount speaker in a red housing with no marking. First, it delivers high-fidelity voice audio for fire alarm voice evacuation and emergency communications. As a result, occupants hear clear, intelligible messages — not just tones.
The Edwards G4SRN is speaker-only. Specifically, it does NOT include a strobe. Therefore, pair it with a separate G4 strobe (such as G4VRF) for combined audible-visual notification, or use a G4SVRF speaker-strobe in a single appliance.
Verified Speaker Specifications
The speaker is field-selectable between 25 VRMS and 70 VRMS operation via a slide switch under the cover. Then wattage taps select 1/4, 1/2, 1, or 2 W output. Sound output at 10 feet (reverberant, UL 1480) is 78 dBA at 1/4 W rising to 87 dBA at 2 W. Furthermore, the speaker is rated 400 to 4000 Hz (UL band) with 100 to 11,000 Hz nominal response.
Voice Intelligibility
Speech Transmission Index (STI) is 0.81. As a result, voice messages remain highly intelligible even in reverberant spaces. Also, the speaker meets NFPA and UL 520 Hz requirements for sleeping areas when paired with an approved 520 Hz audio source. In sleeping areas, set the wattage tap high enough to reach at least 75 dBA at the pillow.
Mounting Requirements
The G4SRN requires the GRSW room side wiring plate, ordered SEPARATELY in 10-packs (GRSW-10). Then the speaker snaps onto the pre-wired plate at final installation. Compatible electrical boxes are 2-gang and 4-inch square. Dimensions are 4.95 inches wide by 5.78 inches high by 1.62 inches deep.
Supervision
The G4SRN includes a DC blocking capacitor in series with the speaker coil. Therefore, the audio distribution circuit can be electrically supervised by the panel. Furthermore, operating temperature is 32 to 122 F (0 to 50 C), 0 to 93 percent relative humidity non-condensing.
