The Genesis 21041101 is a 22 AWG, 4-conductor stranded security and control riser cable from Southwire’s Genesis® line. It is unshielded and built for low-voltage security, access control, and signaling applications. As a result, integrators use it for vertical drops between floors in commercial buildings. The cable ships in white, 1000 feet per pull-out box.

Construction features 22 AWG bare copper conductors, 7-strand stranded for flexibility. In addition, polypropylene insulation surrounds each conductor. Installation Applications
First, this multi-rated cable supports security systems, access control, intercom, and audio signal runs. Then, the multiple ratings also allow CMR communications use and FPLR fire alarm low-current circuits. However, the cable is not plenum-rated. Therefore, do not install it in air-handling spaces per NEC 300.22(C).
Why Stranded Conductors?
First, stranded copper flexes more easily than solid copper of the same AWG. Then, that flexibility helps in tight conduit pulls and repeated termination cycles. As a result, technicians prefer stranded for door controllers, card readers, and other terminated devices.
