The Kidde EOL-15 is a 15,000 ohm end-of-line resistor used to supervise initiating device circuits (IDCs), notification appliance circuits (NACs), and other fire alarm wiring. Specifically, it is the value most commonly specified by Kidde and Edwards control panels. As a result, the panel can distinguish a normal circuit from an open or short fault condition.
First, the panel sends a small standby current through the circuit. Then, the EOL-15 at the far end limits that current to a known value. Therefore, a fault that changes the current (an open, a short, or a device activation) is detected immediately at the panel.
In addition, the EOL-15 is widely used in panel families that specify a 15 K ohm EOL. Furthermore, the same part is sold individually (EOL-15) and in 4-packs (EOL15KP4) for convenience.
