Mircom FNC-2000 Fire Network Controller Module
The Mircom FNC-2000 adds peer-to-peer network capability to FleX-Net fire alarm panels. First, it mounts in module position 2 over the network main board. Then it lets multiple FX-2000 and FX-2003 panels share alarms across one campus-wide loop.
In addition, the FNC-2000 carries cross-panel control commands. Specifically, every node sees alarm, supervisory, and trouble events from every other node. As a result, large facilities annunciate system-wide without separate per-building wire runs.
Mircom FNC-2000 network architecture
The module uses ARCnet, an industrial peer-to-peer protocol. Therefore the FleX-Net loop needs no master node. Furthermore, a single network supports up to 63 nodes. Each node can be a control center or a floor panel.
Wiring runs from the Line A terminals to Line B on the next FNC-2000. Mircom recommends Belden 5320 UJ or 5320 UM, both 2 x 18 AWG unshielded low-capacitance cable. However, shielded cable is not recommended for the loop.
Fiber-optic expansion
For long runs or noisy environments, the FNC-2000 accepts an optional FOM-2000-SP Fiber Optics Module. As a result, integrators can extend the loop beyond copper limits.
Also, one FNC-2000 is required at each network node panel. Life Safety Consultants can help with module sourcing and FleX-Net topology planning.
