POTTER (DRV-50) LED Driver Module

The Potter DRV-50 LED driver module adds 50 user-configurable LED outputs to a graphic annunciator display. First, the module connects to a Potter fire alarm control panel through a four-wire RS-485 P-Link bus. In addition, the P-Link connection is power-limited and supervised.

The 50 LED outputs are distributed on connectors P1-P5, ten per connector. Furthermore, each connector also provides two 5 VDC outputs. Specifically, the LED outputs are internally current-limited, so no external resistor is required.

Potter DRV-50 LED driver inputs and system functions

Connector P6 carries six system LEDs and an audible/PZT output. The six system LEDs cover Power, Earth Fault, Silenced, Alarm, Supervisory, and Trouble. Also, connector P7 provides four supervised dry-contact inputs that take a 5.1k EOL resistor (Potter #3005013).

As a result, the DRV-50 doubles as a graphic-display driver and a custom-input expander. Therefore, designers can wire pull switches or local controls into the same module that drives the LEDs.

Compatible panels and capacities

Compatible Potter panels include the IPA Series, AFC/ARC Series, PFC-4064, and the legacy P-Series and PFC-6000 Addressable Series. Specifically, up to 31 DRV-50s connect to an IPA-4000, AFC-1000, P400/R, or PFC-6800. In addition, up to 10 DRV-50s connect to an IPA-100/60, AFC-100/50, ARC-100, or other smaller Potter panels.

Furthermore, the maximum P-Link wire run is 6,500 feet. Power draw is 25 mA on the P-Link in both standby and alarm. In addition, the LED PWR bus runs 10 mA standby and 215 mA alarm across 16-33 VDC.

The DRV-50 mounts in the AE-2, AE-8, or AE-14 accessory enclosures. Also, it fits inside the PSN-1000E intelligent power supply or larger panel cabinets with stacker brackets. The module is UUKL Listed for Smoke Control under UL S2930 and CSFM 7305-0328:0200, with a 5-year warranty.
