The Potter FFT-FJ (also marketed as FFT-FPJ) is a fireman’s phone jack for the FFT-1000 firefighter telephone master station. First, the jack is installed at strategic locations throughout a building. In addition, it provides a dedicated two-way voice path for first-responder communications.
Operation is straightforward. A firefighter plugs an FFT-RFH remote handset into the FFT-FJ. Then the FFT-1000 rings at the command center. Furthermore, the operator picks up the master handset, selects the corresponding zone switch, and establishes two-way communication.
Potter FFT-FJ wiring and installation
All terminals are power-limited per NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72. Specifically, the FFT-FJ supports either Class A or Class B wiring to the master station. In addition, the choice between Class A and Class B comes from the FFT-1000 configuration, not the jack itself.
Mounting uses a single-gang electrical box measuring 4.0″ × 2.125″ × 2.5″. Also, a deep single-gang box at 4.0″ × 2.125″ × 3.75″ is acceptable. Therefore, the FFT-FJ retrofits into most existing recess-mount applications.
Environmental and ordering
The FFT-FJ operates from 32°F to 120°F with 10-93% non-condensing humidity. Furthermore, the unit ships as stock #3006732. Pairing it with the FFT-1000, FFT-RFH remote handsets, and any required selector switches completes a code-compliant firefighter phone subsystem.
