Siemens FDBZ492 Duct Housing for Smoke Detection
The Siemens FDBZ492 duct housing samples air inside HVAC ducts for smoke. Specifically, it is a two-wire housing without relays. Moreover, it works with both addressable and conventional Siemens detectors. As a result, it brings early smoke detection to air-handling systems.
The housing uses a cross-sectional sampling design. First, an inlet tube draws a continuous air sample from the duct. Then the air passes the detector inside the housing. Finally, an outlet tube returns the sample to the duct.
Siemens FDBZ492 Duct Housing Specifications
The housing handles air velocities from 100 to 4,000 feet per minute. In addition, it operates from 32F to 120F at up to 95% non-condensing humidity. Also, the rectangular version measures 14.38″ H x 5″ W x 2.5″ D. Furthermore, three wiring ports are provided: two 3/4″ knockouts and one 1/2″ opening.
The FDBZ492 complies with NFPA 72 and NFPA 90A. Moreover, it is UL 268A Listed, ULC-S529 Listed, and FM and CSFM Approved. It also fits Siemens H-series and FD-series detectors, among others.
What Is Included
Each housing ships with an outlet tube, stopper, mounting screws, and a template. However, the detector and inlet sampling tube are sold separately. Therefore, match the sampling tube (ST-10 through ST-100) to your duct width.
