The Siemens HMS-SA manual station is a single-action, addressable pull station for commercial fire alarm systems. It gives occupants a simple, reliable way to signal a fire by hand. First, a user pulls the lever down. Then the lever locks in place to show the station has activated.
This intelligent initiating device uses Siemens microcomputer-chip technology. As a result, it communicates in both directions with the control panel. Each unit is programmed to a unique address with the Siemens Device Programmer Unit (DPU). In addition, the EEPROM-based addressing makes setup efficient and dependable.
How the Siemens HMS-SA manual station works
The HMS-SA operates with Siemens FireFinder-XLS and FS-250 control panels. Specifically, it connects through the DLC or FS-DLC device loop card. The station is also polarity insensitive, so either loop wire can land on either terminal. During supervision, the unit draws just 1mA.
After activation, the lever stays down and locked until reset. To reset it, a technician opens the hinged cover with an Allen key. Then they close and relock the cover, with no break rods required. Therefore, the station is ready for reuse right after testing.
Installation and mounting
Installers can surface mount the HMS-SA on a Model SB-5R backbox. Alternatively, it flush mounts to a standard single-gang switchbox. For best coverage, place each station in the normal exit path and keep it unobstructed. Always follow the requirements of the local authority having jurisdiction.
