The Siemens TRI-D is a dual-input intelligent interface module. It monitors two separate normally-open dry contacts on a single device.
First, the TRI-D consumes two device addresses on the addressable loop — one per input. As a result, the panel reports each contact independently. Therefore, a single TRI-D can replace two single-input modules at lower wiring cost.
The most common application pairs a sprinkler waterflow switch with the same zone’s valve tamper switch. In addition, the module supports any combination of supervisory and alarm inputs that present a dry shorting contact. Specifically, the panel reads contact state on each input and reports per address.
How the Siemens TRI-D Module Works
Each TRI-D contains a microcomputer chip with non-volatile memory. Therefore, both addresses are set electronically using the Siemens DPU or FPI-32 programmer. No DIP switches or rotary dials are involved.
The multi-color LED makes diagnostics fast. Specifically, it flashes green for normal communications and amber for trouble. In addition, the LED flashes twice on each cycle — once for each address — so a technician can see both points are reporting.
Key Features
- Two normally-open dry contact inputs on one device
- Two device addresses — one per input, controlled independently
- Multi-color LED with double flash (once per address)
- Electronically programmable addresses — no DIP switches
- Two-wire operation on the addressable initiating circuit
- Dynamic supervision of both inputs
- 5″ × 5″ faceplate included
- Front-access programming port and wiring terminals
- Reconditioned to original specifications with a one-year warranty
- UL Listed, ULC Listed, CSFM and NYC Fire Department approved
Compatible Panels
The TRI-D works with Siemens FireFinder XLS panels (via the MLC loop module) and MXL panels (via the ALD addressable loop driver). The TRI-D is NOT compatible with Siemens Sinteso (European product line) or with any non-Siemens addressable protocol.
Compatible Devices on the Same Loop
The TRI-D shares the SLC with other Siemens intelligent devices. Specifically, it coexists with FP-series multi-criteria detectors, IL-series detectors, ID-60-series detectors, MSI-series addressable manual pull stations, and CZM or ICP control modules.
Typical Applications
- Sprinkler waterflow switch + matching valve tamper switch
- Two-position waterflow + post-indicator valve supervision
- Pull station group with supervisory contact
- Two duct detector remote test/reset stations on one address pair
- Any pairing where two dry contacts share a physical location
