The Edwards SIGA-VA is the Signature Series detector vacuum cleaning tool. Technicians use it to clean the sensing chamber of Signature Series smoke detector heads.
What the Edwards SIGA-VA Is For
First, the SIGA-VA is a service tool, not a fire alarm device itself. Then, it lets a technician vacuum dust and particulate out of a Signature Series detector head without damaging the optics. As a result, sensitivity drift from dust buildup can be reduced without replacing the head.
In addition, periodic detector cleaning supports the maintenance protocols required by NFPA 72 (Chapter 14 inspection, testing, and maintenance). However, the SIGA-VA is itself a maintenance tool; the listing requirements apply to the detector heads, not the cleaning tool.
Compatibility
The SIGA-VA is designed for the Edwards Signature Series addressable detector family. Therefore, it is the correct accessory when servicing those detector heads in the field or on a bench.
Typical Use
Use during scheduled NFPA 72 inspection cycles, after a renovation or construction event that introduced dust, or whenever Signature heads start drifting toward maintenance trouble. Also, keep one in the truck stock for any tech servicing Edwards Signature systems.
