The Silent Knight SK-DUCT-W is an intelligent photoelectric duct smoke detector for HVAC air handling systems. First, sampling tubes draw air from the duct into the housing. Then, the photoelectric sensor evaluates the sample for smoke and combustion particles. As a result, the system detects developing fire conditions inside the airflow path, where ceiling detectors cannot reach.
Silent Knight SK-DUCT-W operating range
- Airflow: 100 to 4,000 feet per minute (0.5 to 20.32 m/s)
- Temperature: -4 °F to 158 °F (-20 °C to 70 °C)
- Relative humidity: 0 to 93 percent, non-condensing
Key features
- Photoelectric sensing with integrated low-flow technology
- Square or rectangular sampling-tube mounting orientation
- Sampling tube installs from front or back with no tools required
- Improved cover design isolates the sensor head for easier maintenance
- Cover tamper feature reports trouble if the cover is removed or misseated
- 3/4-inch conduit knockout, with space inside to mount a relay module
Companion model
The DNRW is the non-intelligent (conventional-relay) variant covered by the same Honeywell datasheet. Therefore, confirm whether the job needs an SLC-addressable detector (SK-DUCT-W) or a relay-output detector (DNRW) before ordering.
Before installing
Verify duct width and required sampling tube length. Also confirm SLC capacity on the host Silent Knight FACP.
