The Silent Knight SK-F485C is a serial-to-fiber SBUS converter card. First, it converts a panel’s SBUS connection to fiber and back again. As a result, it carries SBUS data over long, electrically noisy runs.

The card uses duplex ST connectors for transmit and receive. In addition, it runs over 62.5-micron multimode fiber at 115.2K bits per second. Therefore, a single fiber pair can span up to 1.0 mile (1.6 km).
Operation
The SK-F485C features automatic half-duplex transmitter enable control. Also, it measures 4.75″ by 4.25″ by 1.0″ for easy mounting. Specifically, it links SBUS panels and accessories across separated buildings.
Compatibility
The converter works with Honeywell Silent Knight FACPs, including the 6820. Finally, it lets installers extend SBUS where copper runs are impractical.
