The Simplex 2098-9806 is a remote test station for Simplex TrueAlarm duct smoke sensor housings. It lets a technician trigger a duct detector test from outside the air handler, instead of climbing to the housing itself.
First, the test station mounts on a standard single-gang electrical box. Then a stainless steel cover plate gives it a clean, vandal-resistant finish. As a result, the device fits comfortably at eye level in a corridor or mechanical room.
Two indicators are built into the plate. Specifically, a red LED reports the duct detector’s status — solid when the duct detector is in alarm. In addition, a key-operated switch on the same plate initiates the alarm test. Therefore, only authorized personnel with the matching key can run the test.
How the Simplex 2098-9806 Works
The 2098-9806 wires to the test and LED terminals on a compatible Simplex duct detector housing. Turning the key switch to TEST initiates an alarm on that duct detector. As a result, the building’s fire alarm panel and dependent HVAC shutdown logic exercise exactly as they would in a real smoke event. Furthermore, the red LED confirms the duct detector status at a glance.
Compatible Duct Sensor Housings
The 2098-9806 is intended for the Simplex 4098-9755 (2-wire) and 4098-9756 (4-wire) TrueAlarm duct sensor housings. In addition, it works with the legacy 4098-9685, 4098-9686, and 4098-9688 duct housings on the same wiring scheme.
