Simplex (4098-9714) TrueAlarm Photoelectric Sensor

The Simplex 4098-9714 TrueAlarm Photoelectric Sensor detects smoke using light-scattering technology. It catches combustion particles early, before flames develop.

As an addressable analog device, the 4098-9714 reports raw smoke levels to the fire alarm control panel. The panel then applies alarm and pre-alarm thresholds in software. In addition, it runs a drift compensation algorithm. This algorithm adjusts the sensor’s baseline over time. As a result, dust buildup causes fewer nuisance alarms — without hiding real smoke conditions.
