The Simplex 4098-9843 is an encapsulated SPDT control relay, known by the model designation PAM-SD. It gives a fire alarm panel a remote dry contact for HVAC shutdown, door release, elevator capture, and other auxiliary control.
The relay uses a polarized 24 VDC coil and 18 AWG color-coded wire leads. It has no LED indicator — that is the defining difference from the 2088-9021 PAM-1, which is otherwise similar.
The epoxy-encapsulated body resists vibration, dust, and moisture. As a result, the 4098-9843 is rated for 100% RH condensing humidity. That makes it suitable for mechanical rooms and air handler enclosures.

Where the 4098-9843 Is Used
The PAM-SD is used wherever a Simplex addressable system needs a small, isolated dry contact. Common applications include duct detector relay output extension, single-point HVAC shutdown, door holder release, and elevator recall interface. In addition, it is commonly paired with the Simplex 4098-9756 duct sensor housing’s relay output.
