The Simplex 4100-0304 is a Style 7 Remote Unit Interface (RUI) card for MINIPLEX systems. First, the card extends panel communications to a remote bay. Then, the bay houses additional modules without sharing a backbox with the main panel. As a result, the system spreads across multiple cabinets while remaining a single FACP.
Simplex 4100-0304 Compatibility
The 4100-0304 fits Simplex 4100 back boxes. Specifically, the card does not fit the 4100U or 4100ES. In addition, those newer platforms use the 4100-1291 card for the same function. Therefore, confirm the back-box generation before specifying.
Wiring Topology
The RUI link runs Class A (Style 7) or Class B between the main bay and the remote bay. Furthermore, Style 7 provides survivability against a single open or short on the run. As a result, a single fault does not disable remote-bay communications.
Electrical and Distance
The link runs at 32 VDC and 130 mA maximum. In addition, baud rate selects to either 1,200 or 9,600. Then, the maximum one-way wire length is 2,500 ft. Therefore, MINIPLEX bays can place far from the main cabinet without a repeater.
